Wondering why a shortage of microchips is having a huge impact on car production? Read on to find out.

You may have heard in the news that there’s a shortage of microchips around the globe at the moment, and it’s having an effect on pretty much every industry.

The automotive sector is no exception, and car production has taken a massive hit across the world due to the lack of microchips. Why has it had such an effect, though? Read on to find out more

What is a microchip, and why do cars need them?

With so many products using microchips, even the slightest of delays can have catastrophic effects on the production of electronic products. It just so happens there’s been more than a few slight delays recently though, resulting in huge backlogs of orders.

We totally understand this is frustrating

Please make sure you reflect the situation with your customer. Whilst we do everything in our power to give accurate factory order times, it is out of our control to stop any factory orders slipping in to later dates.
Please keep an eye on your deal status sheet located on the car leasing hub system. This is updated every Monday. If one of your vehicles factory order times changes it will show here. We are really sorry but can not call each person on every update change. During this period make a habit of logging on to the live update form or use the live chat for a quick update.
